Job Description: A CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department) Executive is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CSSD unit, which includes the sterilization and distribution of all sterilizable items used in patient care. This role requires a strong understanding of sterilization procedures, team management, and adherence to strict health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Management of Sterilization Processes: Ensure all sterilization processes meet industry standards and protocols, including the cleaning, sterilization, and proper storage of medical instruments.
Staff Supervision: Oversee the CSSD team, ensuring staff follow all standard operating procedures accurately and efficiently.
Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control measures to prevent incidents of infection due to improperly sterilized equipment.
Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of sterilized supplies to ensure timely availability while minimizing waste.
Compliance and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory logs to ensure compliance with health regulations.
Training and Development: Conduct regular training sessions for CSSD staff to update them on new sterilization techniques, use of equipment, and safety protocols.
Coordination with Other Departments: Liaise with surgical and other departments to ensure their requirements for sterilized materials are met efficiently and without delay.
Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and functionality of sterilization equipment, arranging repairs and replacements as necessary.
Education Qualifications: Degree or diploma in a relevant field such as microbiology, surgical technology, or hospital management.
Prior experience in a CSSD or similar role within a healthcare facility.
Certification in infection control or sterilization technology is highly desirable.
Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
