Job Description: Laboratory Technicians/Scientists play a crucial role in the healthcare ecosystem, performing a variety of tests and procedures to diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases. They work in hospital labs, research facilities, and diagnostic centers, handling biological samples like blood, tissue, and urine, and utilizing sophisticated laboratory equipment to analyze these specimens.
Key Responsibilities: Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect, label, and prepare biological samples for analysis.
Test Execution: Conduct chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
Data Analysis: Analyze test results to identify abnormalities or diseases, ensuring accuracy and reliability of findings.
Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Quality Control: Perform quality control checks to ensure the laboratory adheres to industry standards and regulations.
Reporting: Compile and present test results to physicians or researchers for further analysis and diagnosis.
Research Support: Assist in research studies, including the preparation of specimens and the execution of experimental protocols.
Education Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field. Certification or licensure as required by state or national regulatory bodies.
Experience: Prior experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting is preferred, though entry-level positions are also available.
Skills: Proficiency in using laboratory equipment, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately under pressure. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS).
