Job Description: The Molecular Biologist is responsible for analyzing biological samples at the molecular level, including DNA, RNA, and proteins, to detect genetic abnormalities, diseases, and other biological phenomena. This role involves conducting advanced molecular assays, collaborating with clinicians and researchers, and contributing to the development of diagnostic and therapeutic solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Molecular Analysis: Perform and supervise molecular techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
Nucleic Acid Extraction: Conduct DNA and RNA extraction and ensure the quality and integrity of samples.
Genetic Testing: Analyze genetic markers, mutations, and expression levels for diagnostics and research.
Data Interpretation: Interpret molecular data and prepare detailed diagnostic and research reports.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to laboratory regulations and standards, including NABL, CAP, CLIA, and ISO.
Quality Assurance: Implement quality control protocols to ensure the reliability and reproducibility of test results.
Research and Development: Contribute to research projects and the development of new molecular diagnostic assays.
Collaboration: Work with pathologists, clinicians, and researchers to integrate molecular findings into clinical workflows.
Equipment Management: Operate, maintain, and calibrate molecular biology equipment, such as thermal cyclers, sequencers, and electrophoresis systems.
Training and Mentoring: Train junior staff and technicians in molecular techniques and protocols.
Education Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or related fields.
Preferred: PhD in Molecular Biology or specialized certifications in molecular diagnostics or bioinformatics.
Experience: Extensive experience in molecular diagnostics or research, with a strong background in advanced molecular techniques.
