Job Description: The Emergency Response Coordinator plays a critical role in the development, implementation, and coordination of emergency response strategies within a healthcare facility. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the organization is prepared to respond effectively to various emergencies, including but not limited to natural disasters, hazardous materials incidents, and pandemic outbreaks.

Key Responsibilities: Coordinate the development and implementation of comprehensive emergency response plans and procedures, aligning them with local, state, and federal regulations.
Serve as a key point of contact during emergency situations, coordinating the response efforts among different departments and with external emergency services.
Organize and conduct regular emergency response drills and training sessions for staff to ensure preparedness and effective response capabilities.
Maintain and update the emergency response information, including contact lists, resource inventories, and response protocols.
Assess and analyze potential risks to the facility and its operations, recommending strategies to mitigate these risks.
Collaborate with the Emergency Preparedness Manager and other key stakeholders in reviewing and revising emergency plans based on drill outcomes and real event debriefs.
Assist in the management of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated, ensuring efficient communication and resource allocation.
Develop and distribute educational materials related to emergency preparedness and response to staff and patients.
Ensure the availability and readiness of emergency equipment and supplies, including first aid kits, emergency lighting, and communication devices.
Prepare reports on emergency incidents and response activities for review by senior management and relevant committees.

Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field. Additional certification in emergency management or disaster response is a plus.
Proven experience in emergency planning, training, and response, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal emergency preparedness regulations and standards.
Ability to lead and coordinate emergency response teams and to train staff in emergency response procedures.
Proficiency in the use of emergency management software and communication tools.

About the Role: Acts as a liaison between the healthcare facility and external emergency response agencies, ensuring a coordinated approach to emergencies.
Works closely with department heads and management to integrate emergency response plans into daily operations.
Provides expert guidance and support to staff during emergency drills and actual events, enhancing the facility’s overall response effectiveness.
Plays a key role in post-event analysis and debriefing, identifying lessons learned and areas for improvement in emergency response protocols.
Contributes to the overall safety and security of the healthcare environment, ensuring a prepared and responsive organization.
