Job Description: The Maintenance Manager in a healthcare setting oversees the maintenance department, ensuring that all facilities and equipment are in optimal working condition, compliant with health and safety standards, and meet the needs of patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves managing maintenance staff, planning and executing maintenance and repair works, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities: Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement maintenance strategies, schedules, and procedures for healthcare facilities, including preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
Facility Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and address repair needs and potential safety hazards.
Budget Management: Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting costs for maintenance operations, equipment replacements, and facility upgrades.
Staff Management: Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Vendor and Contractor Management: Oversee the selection and management of vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance tasks and projects.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all medical and operational equipment is maintained according to manufacturers’ specifications and regulatory requirements.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans for equipment and facility failures to minimize downtime and impact on patient care.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and compliance activities.

Education Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facility management, or a related field. Professional certifications in facility or maintenance management (e.g., Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM), Certified Plant Engineer (CPE)) are beneficial.
Experience: Extensive experience in maintenance management, preferably in a healthcare or similarly regulated environment, with a proven track record of improving facility operations and maintenance.
Skills and Competencies: Strong leadership and organizational skills, knowledge of building systems and healthcare facility regulations, budgeting and financial management, and proficiency in maintenance management software. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills are crucial.
