Job Description: A Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients, operating nuclear medicine equipment, and capturing diagnostic images. They play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions using nuclear medicine technology.

Key Responsibilities: Radiopharmaceutical Preparation: Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, ensuring proper dosage and safety protocols.
Imaging Procedures: Perform a variety of nuclear medicine imaging procedures, including PET, SPECT, and other diagnostic scans.
Patient Care: Explain procedures to patients, prepare them for imaging, monitor their condition during and after the procedure, and provide necessary post-procedure care instructions.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain nuclear medicine equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functioning for accurate imaging results.
Quality Control: Implement and adhere to quality control standards to ensure the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic images.
Safety Compliance: Follow all radiation safety guidelines and protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
Documentation: Accurately document patient information, procedure details, and imaging results in medical records and departmental databases.
Collaboration: Work closely with nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of radiopharmaceuticals and other necessary supplies, ensuring they are stored and handled according to safety standards.
Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and practices through ongoing professional development and continuing education.

Education Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N).
Licensure as required by state regulations.
Clinical experience in nuclear medicine procedures.
