Surgical Ward Nurse

Job Description: The Surgical Ward Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and recovery. This role involves clinical assessment, medication administration, wound care, and emotional support, working closely with the surgical team to deliver high-quality inpatient care.
Key Responsibilities: Monitor and assess pre- and post-operative patients
Administer medications and IV therapy as prescribed
Perform wound care and dressing changes
Assist in patient mobilization and rehabilitation
Document patient progress and maintain accurate records
Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-op checklists and education
Monitor vital signs and respond to clinical changes
Provide emotional support and patient education
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and allied health professionals
Ensure infection control and hygiene practices are followed
Handle admission, discharge, and transfer procedures
Manage pain control and post-surgical complications
Participate in shift handovers and multidisciplinary rounds
Maintain a safe and clean ward environment
Report incidents and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Education Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (GNM/BSc Nursing or equivalent)
Valid registration with nursing council or licensing authority
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (preferred)
