Nursing Assistants, often referred to as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), play a pivotal role in the healthcare system by providing basic care to patients and assisting them with daily activities they might have trouble doing on their own, such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
They work under the supervision of nursing and medical staff to ensure that patients receive compassionate and efficient care.
Nursing Assistants are employed in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private homes.

Basic Patient Care: Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and walking.
Health Monitoring: Measure vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and respiration rate.
Environment Maintenance: Ensure patients' living areas are clean and comfortable.
Assistance with Medical Procedures: Help nurses and other medical staff with some medical procedures.
Communication: Serve as a conduit for communication between patients and nurses or doctors, reporting back on the patient's condition.
Documentation: Record and report any changes in a patient's condition or behavior.q

Education: A high school diploma or GED is generally required, followed by completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program.
Certification: Must pass a state competency exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Experience: Entry-level; no prior experience is required beyond the training program, though some employers may prefer or require experience.

Compassion: A genuine desire to help and care for the sick, elderly, and disabled.
Patience: The ability to be patient and understanding in stressful and challenging situations.
Physical Stamina: Nursing assistants are on their feet for most of their shifts and may need to lift or move patients.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with patients, family members, and healthcare team members.
Attention to Detail: Must be able to follow instructions and protocols accurately, especially when dealing with medication or monitoring vital signs.
