Infection Control Support: Provide critical support to infection control teams by identifying infection outbreaks and advising on appropriate control measures.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biomedical Science, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) are preferred for research and senior positions.
Licensure/Certification: Certification or licensure requirements vary by location and employer. Specialized certifications, such as those from the American Society for Microbiology, may be advantageous.
Experience: Experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with specific training in microbiological techniques and pathogen identification.
Skills: Proficiency in laboratory techniques, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with complex equipment. Knowledge of bioinformatics tools is increasingly important.
