Neurologists handle a range of conditions from migraines and seizures to more complex disorders such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and stroke.
They employ various diagnostic tests such as EEG, EMG, and brain imaging to assess neurological function and guide treatment plans.

Patient Evaluation: Conduct detailed patient evaluations to diagnose neurological conditions based on symptoms, patient history, and neurological examinations.
Diagnostic Testing: Order and interpret tests such as MRI scans, CT scans, electroencephalography (EEG), and electromyography (EMG) to diagnose diseases.
Treatment Planning: Develop and manage treatment plans, including prescribing medication, recommending surgical interventions, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care.
Patient Management: Monitor patient progress through follow-up visits, adjusting treatment plans as necessary based on patient response and emerging research.
Research: Stay updated with the latest clinical trials and research to incorporate new treatment methods and technologies into clinical practice.

Educational Background: Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree followed by a residency in neurology. Board certification in neurology after passing specialty exams is typically required.
Experience: Extensive training during residency, often followed by fellowship training in specific sub-specialties such as epilepsy, stroke, or pediatric neurology.
Skills: Strong diagnostic skills, deep understanding of neurological disorders, proficiency in clinical neurophysiology, and ability to manage long-term care.
Certifications: Board certification from a recognized board such as the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) is required.
