Job Description
- The Consultant Physician (General Medicine) is a senior medical professional responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- This role emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient safety, and multidisciplinary collaboration to deliver high-quality internal medicine care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and manage diverse medical conditions
- Provide expert care for patients with complex or undifferentiated illnesses
- Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor progress
- Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare teams for integrated care
- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and emergency consultations
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, interns, and medical students
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical documentation
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, hospital policies, and ethical standards
- Engage in continuous medical education and quality improvement activities
- Support clinical audits, research, and departmental development
Education Qualifications
- MBBS from a recognized university
- MD / DNB in General Medicine (mandatory)
- Fellowship or sub-specialty certification (optional/preferred)
- Valid registration with the Medical Council of the respective country/state
