Job Description
- The EM Junior Resident is a postgraduate medical trainee responsible for delivering acute care to patients in the Emergency Department (ED) under the supervision of senior physicians.
- The role provides hands-on clinical exposure, enhances diagnostic acumen, and develops emergency care skills through real-time patient management and participation in academic activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial assessments, history taking, and physical examinations for patients presenting to the ED.
- Initiate appropriate investigations and management plans in collaboration with senior residents and consultants.
- Assist in emergency procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and trauma resuscitation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical findings and treatment plans.
- Participate in shift duties, ensuring 24/7 coverage of the Emergency Department.
- Engage in clinical audits, mortality reviews, and other quality improvement initiatives.
- Attend departmental teaching sessions, seminars, and simulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
Education Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent recognized medical degree.
- Valid registration with the Medical Council (National/State).
- Completion of internship with exposure to emergency or acute care settings preferred.
