Job Description
- A Consultant in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) is a senior medical professional specializing in diagnosing and surgically treating diseases and conditions of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and vascular system.
- This role involves providing expert clinical care, leading surgical procedures, and contributing to the advancement of the CTVS department through research, teaching, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage complex cardiothoracic and vascular conditions.
- Perform advanced surgical procedures, including open-heart surgery, lung resections, and vascular reconstructions.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, and support staff.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and diagnostic results.
- Collaborate with other specialists to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in and contribute to clinical research and academic activities.
- Ensure adherence to best practices, clinical guidelines, and healthcare regulations.
- Provide education and training to medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Participate in departmental and hospital committees, contributing to strategic planning and policy development.
- Conduct follow-up assessments and manage post-operative care for patients.
- Stay updated with advancements in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery techniques and technologies.
- Engage in community outreach and patient education programs.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and documentation.
- Advocate for patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary case discussions and conferences
Education Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.
- Board certification in Cardiothoracic and/or Vascular Surgery.
- Extensive experience in performing complex cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures.
- Strong clinical, diagnostic, and surgical skills.
- Proven leadership and mentorship abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in clinical research and academic contributions.
- Proficiency in healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
- Valid medical license and credentials.
