The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing, transfusions, or medical research.
This role involves preparing patients, collecting samples, labeling them accurately, and ensuring proper handling and transportation to the laboratory, while adhering to safety and hygiene standards.

Blood Collection: Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients of all age groups.
Patient Preparation: Explain procedures to patients, alleviate concerns, and ensure they are comfortable during sample collection.
Sample Labeling: Accurately label and document collected samples to prevent errors in identification.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning and sterilization of equipment such as needles, syringes, and blood collection tubes.
Compliance: Follow safety and hygiene protocols, including infection control measures and biohazard waste disposal standards.
Sample Transportation: Ensure timely delivery of collected samples to the laboratory while maintaining sample integrity.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of samples collected and procedures performed.
Quality Control: Perform quality checks on samples to ensure they meet testing requirements.
Emergency Response: Handle adverse patient reactions, such as fainting or complications, with prompt care and escalation to medical staff.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with laboratory staff, nurses, and clinicians to support diagnostic processes.

Minimum Requirements: Diploma or certification in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), or a related field.
Preferred: Advanced training or certification in phlebotomy techniques and patient care.
Experience: Experience in blood collection and patient handling is preferred, but entry-level candidates with training are also considered.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in blood collection techniques and equipment handling.
