Job Description: The Assistant Manager-IT plays a pivotal role in supporting the IT department’s operations, focusing on the management and implementation of information technology and systems to meet the organization’s objectives. This position involves overseeing IT projects, managing technical staff, and ensuring the reliability and security of IT services and infrastructure. The Assistant Manager-IT works closely with the IT Manager or Director, contributing to strategic planning, budgeting, and operational efficiency within the IT department.
Key Responsibilities: Project Management: Assist in planning, executing, and overseeing IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Technical Support and Maintenance: Oversee the provision of technical support, ensuring IT systems, hardware, and software are maintained effectively and efficiently.
Team Leadership: Manage and develop the IT team, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff, to build a highly skilled and motivated team.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of IT strategies and policies, aligning them with overall business objectives.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and service providers, ensuring contracts and service levels meet the organization’s needs.
Cybersecurity: Oversee the implementation and management of security protocols and data protection measures to safeguard the organization’s information assets.
Budget Management: Assist with budgeting and forecasting for the IT department, monitoring expenditures to ensure they stay within budget.
Technology Innovation: Stay informed about technological advancements and trends to drive innovation and ensure the organization’s IT capabilities remain competitive.
Education Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CISSP) is advantageous.
Experience: Proven experience in an IT role with a track record of managing projects and leading technical teams. Experience in the specific industry of the organization is highly beneficial.
Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of IT systems, networks, cybersecurity, and software development. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
