Job Description: The Biomedical Engineering Manager oversees the daily operations of the biomedical engineering department within healthcare facilities. This role involves managing a team of biomedical engineers and technicians responsible for the maintenance, repair, and procurement of medical equipment and systems. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Manage and supervise a team of biomedical engineers and technicians, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
Equipment Management: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all biomedical equipment complies with national and international safety and quality standards, as well as with healthcare regulations.
Budget Management: Develop and manage the department’s budget, including procurement of new equipment, maintenance costs, and contract negotiations with vendors and service providers.
Technology Assessment: Evaluate new medical technologies and equipment for acquisition, considering their potential impact on patient care and operational efficiency.
Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals and departments to identify technology solutions that meet clinical needs and improve patient outcomes.
Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and procedures for the effective management of biomedical equipment, including lifecycle management and disposal.
Emergency Preparedness: Ensure the department is prepared to respond to equipment-related emergencies, maintaining critical systems and devices in optimal condition.
Education Qualifications: Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience: Significant experience in biomedical engineering, including hands-on experience with medical equipment and previous managerial or supervisory roles in a healthcare setting.
Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, in-depth knowledge of biomedical technology, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications: Certification as a Clinical Engineer (CCE) or similar may be beneficial.
