Job Description: The Cardiology Technician is an integral member of the cardiology team, responsible for conducting cardiovascular tests, including EKGs, stress tests, and other heart-related examinations, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. This role requires a detailed understanding of cardiology procedures, patient care skills, and the ability to operate specialized medical equipment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced medical environment.
Key Responsibilities: Test Administration: Conduct and assist with cardiovascular tests such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), exercise stress tests, and ambulatory monitoring, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain cardiology equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure that all devices are calibrated and functioning correctly.
Patient Preparation and Follow-Up: Prepare patients for procedures, explain test processes, and provide follow-up care instructions, ensuring a clear understanding and minimizing anxiety.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze test data, prepare reports for cardiologists, and maintain accurate patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest cardiology techniques, technologies, and best practices through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
Education Qualifications: Associate degree or higher in cardiovascular technology, or related field, from an accredited program.
Certification as a Cardiovascular Technician (e.g., Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)) is preferred.
Experience in a cardiology department or clinic is highly advantageous.
Proficiency in using various types of cardiology equipment and software.
Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
