Job Description: The Genetics Clinical Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the genetics department or clinic, focusing on providing high-quality genetic counseling, testing, and patient care services. This role involves managing clinical staff, ensuring adherence to operational standards, improving patient care processes, and coordinating with other healthcare services. The Genetics Clinical Manager plays a crucial role in facilitating the integration of genetic services into broader patient care, focusing on efficiency, effectiveness, and patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Supervise the daily operations of the genetics department, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and manage clinical staff, including genetic counselors, nurses, and support staff. Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional development.
Patient Care Coordination: Oversee patient scheduling, flow, and care coordination, ensuring that genetic counseling and testing services are patient-centered and integrated with other healthcare services.
Quality Improvement: Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, streamline operations, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and genetic counseling standards.
Financial Oversight: Assist in budget preparation and management, monitoring expenses, and optimizing resource utilization within the genetics department.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Department Director, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to promote the integration of genetic services and improve overall patient care.
Education and Outreach: Develop and implement educational programs for staff, patients, and the community about genetic conditions, testing, and counseling services.
Compliance and Ethics: Ensure that genetic testing and counseling services comply with legal, ethical, and professional standards, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.

Education Qualifications:

Key Attributes: Education: Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Certification as a Genetic Counselor may be required.
Experience: Several years of experience in genetic counseling or a related healthcare field, with a proven track record in clinical management or supervision.
Licensure/Certification: Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or equivalent is highly desirable for those with a genetic counseling background.
