The Critical Care Nurse is a highly skilled registered nurse responsible for providing specialized, comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
This role involves continuous monitoring, advanced clinical interventions, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to manage patients with life-threatening conditions.
The Critical Care Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring high standards of care, patient safety, and rapid response to changes in patient status.

Deliver direct nursing care to critically ill patients, including those on mechanical ventilation, vasoactive infusions, and continuous monitoring.
Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient condition using advanced clinical tools and technology.
Administer medications, perform treatments, and manage complex equipment such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and invasive lines.
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Respond promptly to emergencies such as cardiac arrests, rapid deterioration, or sepsis, and initiate appropriate interventions.
Educate and support patients and families on treatment plans, procedures, and recovery expectations.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all care delivered in the electronic health record (EHR).
Uphold infection control practices and safety protocols at all times.
Participate in shift handovers, multidisciplinary rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
Serve as a preceptor or mentor to new staff or nursing students, as assigned.

Registered Nurse (RN) with a current and valid nursing license.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; associate degree in nursing (ADN) may be acceptable with experience.
Certification in Critical Care Nursing (e.g., CCRN) strongly preferred or must be obtained within a defined timeframe after hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience, preferably in an ICU, emergency, or high-acuity setting.

Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond quickly in high-pressure situations.
In-depth understanding of critical care nursing principles and technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and patient/family interaction.
Compassionate, empathetic approach to patient care with a focus on dignity and respect.
High level of accountability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Comfortable with advanced technology, patient monitoring systems, and EHRs.
Physically and mentally capable of working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
