Job Description: CSSD Technicians are crucial team members in the Central Sterile Services Department of a hospital. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that all medical and surgical supplies and equipment are properly cleaned, disinfected, sterilized, and ready for safe use in medical procedures. The role demands precision and adherence to strict sterilization standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities: Cleaning and Decontamination: Properly clean and decontaminate all instruments and equipment following each use and before sterilization.
Sterilization: Operate sterilizers such as autoclaves, ensuring all items are sterilized according to established protocols and standards.
Assembly and Packaging: Assemble all surgical instruments and other equipment kits in preparation for autoclaving and use in surgeries and other medical procedures.
Inventory Management: Maintain a detailed inventory of all CSSD supplies and instruments, including checking for damaged or missing items and ensuring they are replaced or repaired.
Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of all sterilization processes, including times, temperatures, and any incidents or deviations from standard procedures.
Quality Control: Participate in regular quality assurance checks to ensure that all equipment functions correctly and meets safety standards.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and report any malfunctions of sterilization equipment.
Compliance: Adhere to all hospital policies and health and safety guidelines to prevent contamination or infection.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; further certification in sterile processing or surgical technology is preferred.
Experience in a hospital or clinical setting, particularly in sterilization or a related field.
Knowledge of sterilization practices, aseptic techniques, and infection control protocols.
Ability to operate sterilization equipment like autoclaves.
