Dental Technicians, also known as Dental Lab Technicians, play a crucial role in the design and fabrication of various dental prosthetics, including crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances.
They work behind the scenes in dental laboratories, using molds or digital impressions provided by dentists to create functional and aesthetic dental replacements for patients.

Manufacturing Dental Prosthetics: Craft dental devices such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances using materials like ceramics, metals, and polymers.
Reading Prescriptions: Interpret and follow the detailed instructions from dentists contained in prescriptions for patient-specific dental devices.
Molding and Casting: Use molds or impressions to create accurate models of patients' teeth for the fabrication of dental appliances.
Finishing and Polishing: Complete the fabrication process by finishing and polishing dental devices to ensure they are high-quality and fit comfortably.
Quality Control: Perform quality checks on dental appliances to ensure they meet required specifications and are free from defects.
Machine Operation: Operate specialized equipment such as CAD/CAM machines, 3D printers, and conventional tools used in the design and manufacture of dental products.
Maintenance: Maintain dental laboratory tools and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.

Education: High school diploma required; postsecondary training or certification in dental technology preferred.
Certification: Certification from recognized bodies such as the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC) is highly advantageous.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using dental laboratory tools and digital manufacturing equipment.
Experience: Prior experience in a dental laboratory setting is beneficial but not always necessary for entry-level positions.

Attention to Detail: Precision is crucial in crafting dental prosthetics that fit comfortably and look natural.
Manual Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to work with small tools and delicate materials.
Artistic Ability: A good sense of aesthetics to replicate the appearance of natural teeth.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues during the fabrication process.
Time Management: Skills to manage multiple orders efficiently and meet deadlines.
