Job Description: Dietetic Technicians are integral members of the healthcare and nutrition teams, working under the supervision of Registered Dietitians to plan, implement, and monitor nutritional programs and services for patients in various settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and wellness programs. They play a critical role in promoting health and wellness through nutrition, contributing to patient care plans, and ensuring dietary needs are met according to the latest nutritional science.

Key Responsibilities: Nutritional Assessment: Assist in evaluating patients’ nutritional needs based on medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and preferences.
Meal Planning: Develop and adjust meal plans under the guidance of a Registered Dietitian, ensuring they meet the nutritional requirements and preferences of patients or clients.
Nutrition Education: Provide nutritional education to patients, families, and caregivers on how to maintain dietary plans at home, making complex dietary guidelines understandable for non-specialists.
Food Service Coordination: Work with kitchen staff to ensure meal plans are accurately followed and dietary modifications are properly implemented.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor patients’ progress and provide feedback to dietitians, adjusting dietary plans as necessary to meet nutritional goals.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of patients’ nutritional care plans, dietary restrictions, and progress.
Community Programs: Participate in the development and implementation of community nutrition programs, health fairs, and wellness initiatives.
Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest nutrition research, dietary trends, and best practices in patient care.

Education Qualifications: Educational Background: Associate degree or higher in dietetics, food and nutrition, or a related field from an accredited program.
Certification/Licensing: Certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) or equivalent, which typically requires passing a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Experience: Clinical or food service experience in a healthcare setting is highly valued.
Skills: Strong understanding of nutrition and dietetics, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in dietary software and record-keeping, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
