Job Description

  • The Director of Supply Chain Management in a healthcare setting oversees the entire supply chain operation, from procurement to distribution of medical and non-medical supplies.
  • This role is critical for ensuring that the healthcare facility runs efficiently and effectively, with a constant supply of necessary products and equipment at the best possible cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels, implement inventory control measures, and develop policies to minimize waste and ensure that critical supplies are always available.
  • Logistics and Distribution: Manage the logistics of supply movement within the facility, ensuring timely distribution of supplies to various departments.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that procurement and supply chain activities comply with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Cost Management: Develop budgets and monitor spending, focusing on cost-saving measures without compromising the quality of care.
  • Technology Implementation: Utilize and implement supply chain management technology solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making.

Education Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is often preferred.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in supply chain management, procurement, or logistics, preferably within a healthcare setting. Leadership experience is essential.
  • Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Healthcare Supply Chain Management (CHSCM) are beneficial.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong leadership and negotiation skills, deep understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles, proficiency in supply chain management software, and excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
