Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program, which could be a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or a diploma from an approved nursing program.
Licensure: Must pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license. Additional requirements may vary by state or country.
Continuing Education: Depending on the state or healthcare facility, RNs may be required to complete continuing education credits to maintain their licensure.
