Job Description
- Exercise Physiologists specialize in the analysis of physical fitness to help patients recover from chronic diseases and improve cardiovascular function, body composition, and flexibility.
- They design customized exercise programs that are medically safe and effectively enhance patients' health and physical performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ health and physical condition through fitness and exercise tests.
- Develop individualized exercise programs to improve health, fitness, and well-being.
- Monitor patients’ progress and adjust exercise plans as needed.
- Educate patients on health, wellness, and the importance of maintaining physical activity.
- Conduct research on the effects of exercise on various health outcomes.
- Work closely with healthcare providers to integrate exercise physiology into patient care plans.
Education Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Certification from recognized professional organizations, such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or the Clinical Exercise Physiology Association (CEPA).
- Experience working with patients in a healthcare setting is highly advantageous.
