Job Description: Facilities Managers in a healthcare setting are responsible for the day-to-day operations related to the physical environment of a healthcare facility, including its maintenance, safety, and efficiency. They play a critical role in ensuring that the facility provides a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Facilities Managers must balance operational requirements with regulatory compliance and budget management, all while contributing to the overall mission of the healthcare organization
Key Responsibilities: Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) to ensure they are operational and efficient.
Safety and Compliance: Implement and monitor safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
Vendor Management: Manage contracts and relationships with vendors and contractors, ensuring quality services and cost-effectiveness.
Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the facilities budget, including forecasting and controlling expenditures for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
Space Management: Coordinate the effective use of space and facilities for various departments, managing renovations or reconfigurations as needed.
Emergency Preparedness: Participate in planning and executing emergency preparedness drills and procedures to ensure facility readiness in case of disasters or emergencies.
Sustainability Initiatives: Support initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the facility, including energy conservation and waste reduction efforts.
Team Leadership: Supervise and develop the facilities staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and reports on facility operations, maintenance activities, and compliance audits.
Education Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) are advantageous.
Experience: Proven experience in facilities management, preferably within a healthcare setting. Experience with building maintenance, safety regulations, and team leadership is essential.
Skills and Competencies: Knowledge of facilities operations and maintenance, understanding of healthcare regulations, budget management skills, and proficiency in using facilities management software. Strong leadership and communication skills are crucial.
