Job Description: Facilities Technicians/Engineers in a healthcare setting are essential personnel responsible for maintaining the physical environment and systems of the facility to ensure they are operational, safe, and compliant with healthcare standards. They work closely with the maintenance and facilities management teams to perform repairs, conduct preventive maintenance, and implement system improvements across the healthcare facility. Their technical expertise is crucial in ensuring the facility’s infrastructure supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure optimal operation.
Preventive Maintenance: Execute preventive maintenance plans for critical equipment and systems to minimize downtime and extend their lifespan.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all activities comply with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
System Improvements: Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to facility systems to enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response activities for system failures or facility issues, providing technical expertise and rapid solutions.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and compliance checks.
Equipment Installation: Oversee or assist in the installation of new equipment, ensuring it meets operational and safety standards.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors on maintenance-related projects, ensuring work is completed to specifications.
Training and Support: Provide technical support and training to other facilities staff on system operations and maintenance best practices.

Education Qualifications: Educational Background: Associate degree or higher in engineering, facility management, or a related technical field. Certifications or specialized training in HVAC, electrical systems, or plumbing are highly beneficial.
Experience: Hands-on experience in facilities maintenance or engineering, preferably in a healthcare setting, with a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Skills and Competencies: Strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards in healthcare, and proficiency in using maintenance management software. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are also important.
