The Infection Control Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control (IPC) programs to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors in healthcare and laboratory settings.
This role involves conducting risk assessments, educating staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards to minimize the spread of infections.

Infection Prevention Program: Develop and oversee infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
Surveillance: Monitor and analyze infection trends, rates, and outbreaks within the facility.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines, including NABL, CAP, ISO, and local health authority standards.
Training and Education: Provide training sessions for healthcare and lab staff on infection control measures, hand hygiene, and proper PPE usage.
Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential sources of infection.
Audit and Inspection: Perform routine audits of sterilization procedures, waste management, and environmental cleanliness.
Reporting: Document and report infection data to relevant stakeholders and health authorities.
Outbreak Management: Lead the investigation and containment of infection outbreaks, implementing corrective actions.
Collaboration: Work with clinicians, lab personnel, and facility management to ensure effective infection control practices.
Research and Updates: Stay informed about advancements in infection control and integrate evidence-based practices into the facility's IPC program.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Microbiology, or Medical Laboratory Technology.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) or Infection Control Certification (e.g., CIC, IPCN).
Experience: Proven experience in infection control, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory setting.

Attention to Detail: Precision in monitoring infection trends and implementing control measures.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze infection data and identify risk factors.
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to educate staff and communicate findings.
Leadership: Capability to lead infection control initiatives and respond to outbreaks.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory standards for infection prevention.
Problem-Solving: Capacity to address infection-related challenges effectively.
