The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support and maintaining the IT infrastructure in healthcare and pathology laboratories.
This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with network connectivity, and supporting the daily IT needs of the laboratory staff to ensure seamless operations.

Technical Support: Provide first-line support for IT issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
Equipment Maintenance: Set up, repair, and maintain IT equipment, including computers, printers, and laboratory devices.
System Updates: Assist in installing and updating software to maintain compatibility and security.
Network Support: Ensure proper functioning of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks within the facility.
User Training: Assist laboratory staff with IT tools and applications, including Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems promptly to minimize disruptions.
Documentation: Maintain records of IT support tickets, repairs, and system configurations.
Compliance: Follow IT protocols and ensure systems align with regulatory standards such as NABL, CAP, HIPAA, and GDPR.
Backup Support: Assist with data backups and recovery operations.
Security Measures: Implement basic cybersecurity measures, including antivirus updates and system monitoring.

Minimum Requirements: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields.
Preferred: Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical training.
Experience: Previous experience in IT support or technical roles, preferably in healthcare or laboratory environments.

Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Communication: Strong skills for assisting non-technical staff and explaining IT solutions clearly.
Attention to Detail: Precision in troubleshooting and documenting IT tasks.
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in basic hardware, software, and network maintenance.
Adaptability: Flexibility to handle dynamic IT needs and evolving technology.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with IT administrators and laboratory staff.
