Job Description:

The Housekeeping Manager oversees the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring that all spaces, whether in a hotel, hospital, corporate building, or residential complex, are maintained in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. This role involves managing housekeeping staff, developing cleaning schedules, ensuring the quality of cleaning services, and managing inventory of cleaning supplies and linens. The Housekeeping Manager works closely with other department managers to ensure guest satisfaction and compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Management: Supervise housekeeping staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure all areas meet the organization’s standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and employee work areas to ensure cleanliness and to address any issues promptly.
Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and linens, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and budget constraints are adhered to.
Budget Management: Develop and monitor the housekeeping department’s budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high standards of service.
Guest Satisfaction: Address guest complaints or concerns regarding housekeeping services promptly and efficiently to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure that housekeeping practices adhere to health and safety regulations and that staff are trained on safe work practices and the use of cleaning chemicals.

Education Qualifications:

Educational Background: A high school diploma is required, although a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Several years of experience in housekeeping or facilities management, with a proven track record of successful staff management and operational oversight.
Skills: Excellent organizational and leadership skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, proficiency in budget management, and a deep understanding of cleaning techniques and standards.
Certifications: Certifications such as the Certified Executive Housekeeper (CEH) can be beneficial.
