Job Description: The Department Coordinator plays a pivotal administrative role within a healthcare department, ensuring smooth operations and efficient coordination of activities. This position involves a blend of administrative tasks, staff coordination, and communication duties, supporting both the department’s internal team and its interactions with other hospital units or external entities.
Key Responsibilities: Administrative Support: Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings, handling correspondence, and maintaining departmental records.
Coordination of Activities: Facilitate the smooth operation of the department by coordinating activities, appointments, and schedules, ensuring efficient workflow and patient care.
Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for the department, liaising with other departments, external organizations, and patients to relay information and coordinate services.
Resource Allocation: Assist in managing the department’s resources, including equipment and supplies, ensuring availability and operational readiness.
Data Management: Collect, maintain, and report departmental data, such as patient statistics, staff hours, and resource usage, to support decision-making and reporting requirements.
Compliance and Policies: Help ensure compliance with hospital policies, healthcare regulations, and safety standards, contributing to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
Support to Department Leadership: Provide administrative support to the department head and other leadership roles, assisting with the preparation of reports, presentations, and special projects.
Education Qualifications: Education: An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare setting or administrative role is highly beneficial, with a demonstrated ability to manage tasks and coordinate activities effectively.
Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and healthcare information systems.
