Job Description: The OT Incharge oversees the overall management and operations of the Operating Theatre. This role is crucial in ensuring that surgical procedures are carried out efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of care. The OT Incharge coordinates all activities within the operating room and ensures that the environment is safe, equipped, and staffed appropriately for all surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Manage the daily operations of the operating theatre, including scheduling of surgeries, staff assignments, and equipment availability.
Staff Supervision: Supervise and mentor operating room staff, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and technicians, ensuring best practices in patient care and teamwork.
Policy Implementation: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital policies related to surgery and patient care.
Quality Control: Monitor and evaluate surgical procedures to adhere to safety standards and improve outcomes. Implement quality improvement initiatives as needed.
Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement and maintenance of surgical instruments and supplies. Ensure that all tools and materials are available as needed for each procedure.
Training and Development: Organize training sessions for staff on new techniques, technologies, and safety protocols.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement protocols for emergency situations in the operating room.
Budget Management: Manage the budget for the operating theatre, including equipment purchases and staffing.
Collaboration: Work closely with department heads and medical staff to coordinate interdepartmental activities and improve patient care.
Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of operations and procedures, reporting to higher management on the performance and needs of the department.
Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field; Master’s preferred.
Additional certification in operating room nursing or healthcare management.
Significant experience in an operating theatre setting, with prior supervisory or management experience.
