Job Description
- A Pediatrics Registrar is a physician specializing in the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents.
- This role typically involves both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, where the registrar works under the supervision of senior pediatricians to provide comprehensive medical care to younger patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses and injuries in pediatric patients.
- Conduct routine check-ups and vaccinations to monitor and promote healthy growth and development.
- Collaborate with pediatric specialists to manage complex medical issues.
- Provide guidance and advice on issues such as breastfeeding, nutrition, and preventive health care to parents and caregivers.
- Respond to pediatric emergencies and provide urgent care when required.
- Participate in the training and supervision of medical students and junior doctors.
- Keep detailed records of patients’ health and treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care.
- Conduct research and contribute to studies in pediatrics as required.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
Education Qualifications
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Completed internship and is currently enrolled in or has completed a residency in pediatrics.
- Registration with a medical board or licensing authority.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required.
