Job Description: Pediatric Physical Therapists specialize in evaluating and treating infants, children, and adolescents with developmental, neuromuscular, skeletal, or acquired health conditions. Their primary goal is to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. These professionals work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support a child’s ability to participate in daily activities and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities: Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of motor skills, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and other areas relevant to the child’s physical function.
Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans that promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
Therapeutic Interventions: Implement specific therapeutic activities and exercises aimed at improving gross and fine motor skills, balance, coordination, strength, and endurance.
Family and Caregiver Education: Educate families and caregivers on how to support their child’s development and participation in daily activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including pediatricians, educators, and occupational therapists, to ensure a comprehensive approach to the child’s care.
Adaptive Equipment: Recommend and teach the use of devices like braces, wheelchairs, and walking aids to enhance mobility.

Education Qualifications: Education: A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) is required.
Licensure: Must pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for licensure.
Specialized Training: While not always required, specialized training or certification in pediatric physical therapy is highly beneficial.
