Job Description: The Periodontist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) diseases and conditions affecting the supporting structures of teeth, including the gums, bone, and ligaments. This role involves performing advanced procedures such as scaling, root planing, and gum surgery while adhering to Indian Dental Council standards to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Diagnosis: Evaluate and diagnose periodontal diseases through clinical examinations and imaging techniques.
Treatment Planning: Develop personalized treatment plans based on patient needs, including preventive care and surgical interventions.
Non-Surgical Procedures: Perform scaling, root planing, and other non-invasive treatments to manage gum disease.
Surgical Interventions: Conduct periodontal surgeries, such as gum grafting, pocket reduction, and bone regeneration.
Implantology: Assist with or perform dental implant placement, ensuring healthy periodontal structures.
Patient Education: Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, gum disease prevention, and maintenance of periodontal health.
Collaboration: Work closely with general dentists, orthodontists, and prosthodontists for comprehensive care.
Infection Control: Follow stringent sterilization and infection control protocols.
Record Maintenance: Maintain detailed and accurate records of treatment plans, procedures, and patient progress.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to NABH and Dental Council of India guidelines for periodontal care.
Continuing Education: Stay updated on advancements in periodontal techniques, materials, and technologies to provide state-of-the-art care.
Education Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from a recognized institution approved by the Dental Council of India.
Preferred: Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Periodontics and Oral Implantology.
Licensure: Valid registration with the State Dental Council in India.
Key Attributes: Expertise: In-depth knowledge of gum diseases, treatment techniques, and surgical procedures.
Communication: Strong skills in explaining diagnoses and treatments to patients.
