Job Description: Radiology Assistants (RAs) are advanced practice radiographers who work under the supervision of radiologists to provide patient care in the radiology department. They are trained to perform a variety of diagnostic imaging examinations and assist with complex procedures. RAs enhance the efficiency of the radiology department, ensuring high-quality care and optimized patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities: Assist radiologists with complex radiological examinations and procedures, such as fluoroscopies, CT scans, and MRIs.
Perform patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
Administer contrast media under the supervision of a radiologist, observing patients for adverse reactions.
Assist with image analysis, providing preliminary evaluation reports to radiologists.
Ensure the accurate positioning of patients and optimization of equipment settings to achieve high-quality images.
Maintain patient safety by adhering to radiological protection standards and protocols.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and communicate findings as necessary.
Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the radiology department.
Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in radiography or a related field, with additional certification or master’s degree in radiologist assistant studies.
Certification and registration as a Radiologist Assistant (RA) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
State licensure as required by local regulations.
Clinical experience in radiography, demonstrating proficiency in diagnostic imaging techniques.
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and radiological sciences.
