Job Description: Respiratory Therapists specialize in providing critical care to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Working under the direction of physicians, they play an essential role in diagnosing lung and breathing disorders and recommending suitable treatments. They work with patients of all ages, from premature infants with undeveloped lungs to elderly patients with lung disease.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients’ lung capacity and determine the best treatment plans.
Management of Ventilators: Set up and manage mechanical ventilators for patients who cannot breathe independently.
Pulmonary Function Testing: Conduct tests to measure lung capacity and monitor oxygen and carbon dioxide levels.
Aerosol Medications: Administer aerosol-based medications to improve patients’ breathing.
Patient Education: Teach patients and their families about lung diseases and the use of ventilators or other devices.
Emergency Care: Provide immediate care in emergencies, such as during a heart attack, drowning, or shock.
Education Qualifications: Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
Licensing/Certification: Must pass a national exam to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
Experience: Clinical experience through internships or on-the-job training is typical.

Detail-Oriented: Precision in following physician orders and monitoring complex equipment.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills to explain treatments to patients and work with healthcare teams.
