Job Description: Position Summary:
The Revenue Cycle Manager in a healthcare organization oversees the entire lifecycle of patient billing and revenue collection, from the time a patient schedules an appointment to the final payment of the bill. This role is crucial for ensuring the financial stability of healthcare facilities by maximizing revenue collection and minimizing the time it takes to receive payments from payers, including insurance companies and patients. The Revenue Cycle Manager implements efficient billing practices, oversees the claims process, and ensures compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Revenue Cycle Oversight: Manage all aspects of the revenue cycle process, including patient registration, billing, collections, and patient financial services, to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Compliance and Regulation: Ensure all billing practices comply with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and payer policies to minimize denials and audits.
Performance Analysis: Analyze revenue cycle metrics to identify areas for improvement, implement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce the cycle time from service to payment.
Denial Management: Develop and implement strategies to reduce claim denials and improve the rate of successful appeals. Monitor and report on denial trends and payer behavior.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and develop the revenue cycle team to ensure high performance, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Patient Communication: Oversee the development of clear patient communication strategies regarding billing and collections, enhancing patient satisfaction and understanding of their financial responsibilities.
Technology and Process Improvement: Utilize technology to streamline revenue cycle processes. Implement electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems to automate tasks where possible and improve accuracy and efficiency.
Education Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in healthcare administration, finance, or related fields are advantageous.
Experience: Significant experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including direct experience with billing, collections, and denials management. Leadership experience is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of healthcare billing, coding, and regulations. Excellent leadership and communication skills, proficiency with healthcare IT systems (EHR, billing software), and the ability to analyze financial data to drive improvements.
