Job Description: The Senior Biochemist is responsible for conducting and supervising advanced biochemical analyses to support accurate patient diagnoses. This role involves ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards, mentoring junior biochemists, and contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the biochemistry department in a pathology laboratory.
Key Responsibilities: Biochemical Testing: Perform and oversee advanced biochemical tests such as enzyme assays, metabolic panels, and hormone analyses.
Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and precision of test results.
Test Validation: Validate new biochemical testing methods and ensure their compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Data Interpretation: Analyze test results and provide diagnostic insights to clinicians.
Training and Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior biochemists and technicians to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to guidelines set by NABL, CAP, ISO, and other relevant standards.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of test results, calibration logs, and quality control data.
Collaboration: Work with pathologists and other departments to address diagnostic challenges and ensure integrated care.
Research Support: Participate in research activities and contribute to the adoption of innovative diagnostic techniques.
Education Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Biochemistry or Clinical Chemistry.
Preferred: Certifications in advanced biochemical techniques or quality management systems.
Experience: Extensive experience in biochemical testing and analysis, with expertise in quality assurance and laboratory operations.
