Job Description: The Senior Resident (Medicine) plays a crucial role in providing continuous medical care to patients under the supervision of consultants. This position involves managing inpatient and outpatient cases, performing clinical procedures, and contributing to the academic and research responsibilities of the department.
Key Responsibilities: Provide round-the-clock medical care in general medicine wards and ICUs
Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
Perform and assist in clinical procedures (e.g., lumbar puncture, central line insertion)
Attend ward rounds with consultants and implement treatment plans
Maintain accurate patient records and discharge summaries
Handle emergency calls and stabilize critical patients
Supervise junior residents and interns
Participate in teaching sessions, clinical case discussions, and journal clubs
Contribute to departmental research, audits, and quality improvement projects
Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and ethical standards
Education Qualifications: MBBS from a recognized institution
MD / DNB in General Medicine (mandatory or in final year for eligibility)
Valid registration with the State or National Medical Council
