Job Description: Staff Pharmacists are licensed professionals responsible for dispensing prescription medications to patients and offering expertise in the safe use of prescriptions. They also may provide advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle, conduct health and wellness screenings, provide immunizations, and oversee the medications given to patients.
Key Responsibilities: Dispensing Medications: Accurately interpret doctor prescriptions, prepare, and dispense medications to patients.
Patient Counseling: Provide information to patients about medications, including how to take them, what side effects might occur, and how to store them.
Healthcare Collaboration: Work with other healthcare professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate patient effectiveness of drug therapy.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as the policies of the pharmacy.
Inventory Management: Manage the pharmacy inventory, ensuring that medications are stocked and stored correctly.
Education Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
Licensure: Must be licensed to practice as a pharmacist in the state of employment, requiring passing the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and a state law exam.
Experience: Some positions may require prior experience as a pharmacist, but entry-level positions are available.

Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex information about medications in an understandable way to patients and healthcare professionals.

Analytical Skills: Ability to assess the appropriateness of prescribed medications based on patient health information and current treatment plans.
