Job Description: The Unit Director of a Cardiology Unit, often referred to as the Cardiology Unit Director, oversees the operational, clinical, and administrative functions of the cardiology department. This role involves managing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, developing departmental policies, overseeing budgeting and finances, and leading quality improvement initiatives. The Unit Director works closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive cardiovascular care, align with hospital policies, and meet regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership Oversee the daily operations of the cardiology unit to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
Clinical Governance Implement and maintain clinical governance structures and processes to ensure patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and high-quality care.
Staff Management Hire, train, and evaluate cardiologists, nurses, and support staff. Develop and manage team schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels.
Budget and Resource Management Develop and manage the unit’s budget, including resource allocation for staff, equipment, and supplies.
Policy Development Create, implement, and review policies and procedures to comply with healthcare regulations and standards.
Quality Improvement Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, increase efficiency, and improve patient satisfaction.
Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with hospital administration, other departments, and external organizations to develop partnerships and coordinate care.
Professional Development Encourage and facilitate professional development and continuing education opportunities for staff.

Education Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field. Clinical background in cardiology or related specialty is highly beneficial.
Experience: Extensive experience in healthcare management, with a significant portion within cardiology or a closely related field. Leadership experience is crucial.
Licensing/Certification: Relevant professional certifications in healthcare management (e.g., FACHE) or clinical certifications in cardiology are advantageous.
Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, financial management, and communication skills. Expertise in healthcare regulation and policy is essential.
