Job Description: X-ray Technicians, also known as Radiologic Technologists, specialize in imaging techniques using X-ray equipment to capture images of the internal structure of the body. These images are crucial for diagnosing medical conditions. X-ray Technicians prepare patients for procedures, operate the equipment, and ensure that proper safety protocols are followed to minimize radiation exposure.
Key Responsibilities: Image Capture: Operate X-ray and other imaging equipment to capture high-quality images as prescribed by healthcare providers.
Patient Preparation: Prepare and position patients for X-rays, explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
Radiation Safety: Apply radiation safety measures to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
Equipment Maintenance: Check and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and ready for use.
Image Processing: Develop X-ray films or assist in the digital processing of images.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records, documenting procedures and compliance with regulatory standards.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to analyze images and determine further testing if necessary.
Education Qualifications: Educational Background: An Associate’s degree or certificate in radiologic technology from an accredited program.
Licensing/Certification: Certification and licensure requirements vary by location but generally include passing an examination and completing continuing education.
Experience: Entry-level positions available, but experience in a clinical setting can be beneficial.
