Job Description: The Security Manager in a healthcare setting is responsible for implementing and overseeing the security measures necessary to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves managing security personnel, coordinating security protocols, and responding to security incidents. The Security Manager works under the guidance of the Director of Security and is pivotal in maintaining a secure and safe environment within the healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities: Security Personnel Management: Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of security staff. Ensure that security personnel are well-prepared to handle a variety of security challenges.
Security Protocols and Procedures: Implement and monitor security protocols and procedures as developed by the Director of Security. Update these practices based on evolving security needs or after security incidents.
Incident Response: Lead the response to security incidents, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly and effectively. Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
Surveillance and Technology: Manage the operation and maintenance of security cameras, access control systems, and other security technologies to ensure comprehensive surveillance and security coverage.
Training and Drills: Organize training sessions and drills for security staff and other hospital employees on handling security incidents, emergency procedures, and safety protocols.
Risk Assessment: Assist in conducting risk assessments to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities within the facility and recommend measures to mitigate these risks.
Report and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of security incidents and measures taken to resolve them. Prepare reports for senior management on security status and improvements.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that security practices comply with healthcare regulations, including patient privacy laws and workplace safety standards.
Budget Management: Assist in managing the security budget, ensuring the efficient use of resources and procurement of necessary security equipment and technologies.

Education Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience in security operations may substitute for education.
Experience: Proven experience in security management, ideally in a healthcare or similarly regulated environment. Experience leading a team of security personnel.
Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are beneficial.
Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills, proficiency in security technologies and systems, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.
