Job Description: The Neurology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic tests that help in the evaluation of the nervous system and brain function. Working under the direction of neurologists and other healthcare professionals, the technician ensures accurate test administration, data collection, and preliminary report generation. This role requires a strong technical skill set, attention to detail, and the ability to work compassionately with patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions.
Key Responsibilities: Test Administration: Conduct neurological tests including EEG, NCS, PSG, and evoked potentials, following established protocols to ensure accurate results.
Patient Preparation and Care: Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, addressing concerns, applying electrodes/sensors as needed, and monitoring patient status throughout the test.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain neurodiagnostic equipment, ensuring calibration and functionality while adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze test data, identify abnormalities, and prepare preliminary reports for review by a neurologist.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with neurology professionals to discuss findings, contribute to patient care plans, and ensure comprehensive care.
Continuous Education and Compliance: Stay updated on advancements in neurodiagnostic technology and methodologies, and comply with relevant health and safety regulations.
Education Qualifications: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology or a related field.
Certification from an accredited neurodiagnostic technologist program, such as the Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG T.) or equivalent.
Previous experience in a clinical setting performing neurodiagnostic testing is preferred.
Proficiency in operating neurodiagnostic testing equipment and software.
Knowledge of neurological disorders and conditions.
