The Surgery Department Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the smooth operation of the surgical department.
This individual is responsible for coordinating surgical schedules, managing surgical staff assignments, and ensuring that all necessary surgical supplies and equipment are available and in proper working order.
The Coordinator acts as a liaison between surgical teams, administration, and other departments to facilitate effective communication and efficient workflow.

Schedule surgeries, coordinating dates and times with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to optimize operating room utilization.
Manage surgical equipment and supply inventory, ensuring that all necessary materials are in stock and in good condition.
Assist in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of care.
Coordinate staff assignments and rotations, taking into account qualifications, availability, and surgical needs.
Handle administrative tasks such as record keeping, reporting, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Act as a primary point of contact for surgeons, nurses, and administrative staff for scheduling and operational questions.
Participate in departmental meetings, contributing to discussions on improvements in patient care, efficiency, and safety.

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field preferred.
Experience in a surgical or healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of surgical procedures and medical terminology.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
Proficiency in healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
